Auction Academy Partners with IARA to Provide CAR Certification Training

FRANKLIN, Tennessee (Feb. 5, 2018) — IARA CAR Certification will now be included in Auction Academy’s two-year training curriculum, announced Penny Wanna, Academy President. The addition to the Academy’s course of study takes place immediately and is the outcome of IARA’s move to participate as a major sponsor of Auction Academy.

“Adding the CAR Certification training to our two-year course of study is a significant milestone for Auction Academy, and we are grateful to IARA for its sponsorship and support,” said Wanna. “CAR Certification is the gold standard for automotive remarketers, and this training will be an invaluable part of our curriculum. It will not only enhance the students’ understanding of the remarketing process but will elevate the skill set of our current and future class participants.”

Penny Wanna, President, Auction Academy IARA’s Car Certification program addresses all steps of the remarketing process, starting with the consignment and grounding of the vehicle, through the completion of wholesale transactions and upstream selling.

Wanna explains that each of the 24 students in the current class group will begin CAR Certification training during the 4th Class Session which will be hosted by Chuck Redden of AutoTec, Tom Adams of Auction Insurance Agency and Steve Demedicis of AutoCheck on February 22-24. Tony Long from IARA will attend the session and will join with Wanna to introduce the IARA CAR Certification course to the class.

The Birmingham event will also include tours of America’s Birmingham and ADESA Birmingham auction facilities, where a previous Auction Academy graduate, Jason Murdock, will lead the group in a hands-on workshop focusing on Frame Damage and Repairs. The group will also participate in training forums conducted by AutoTec, Auto Check, Auction Insurance Agency, AJ Gallagher Insurance, AuctionACCESS, OVE, Liquid Motors and Used Car News.

“Our goal is for all 24 students in the current class group “Class 5” to complete all 20 modules of the CAR Certification course within their remaining 13 months of the Academy. They will mark their graduation from Auction Academy and be officially recognized as CAR Certified during the 2019 Conference of Automotive Remarketing,” said Wanna.

Wanna who is CAR Certified will also provide proctored testing opportunities for anyone pursuing the IARA CAR Certification by adding designated time slots to the two-year Class Groups and Seminar Series program agendas. The current 2018 Academy schedule can be found on the Auction Academy website www.auctionacademy.net.

Tony Long, Executive Director, IARA Said Tony Long: “the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA) has long recognized the Auction Academy, in recent years under the guidance of Pierre Pons, as the primary source of training for some of North America’s best managed auctions. Now under Penny Wanna’s leadership, the Academy continues to expand its reach to a more comprehensive audience. With the close ties that exist between IARA and Auction Academy, it only made sense to include the CAR Certification program in the Academy’s curriculum. IARA is thrilled that this training will expand the newly automated delivery of the program to even more auction professionals.”

Dave Sutton, Co-Chair IARA Certification Committee Added Dave Sutton, Sr. Co-chairman of the IARA Certification Committee: “Auction Academy is a premier training program with outstanding content and relationship building for emerging auction professionals. The integration of the IARA’s Certified Automotive Remarketer Program into its curriculum is a perfect fit for both organizations. As a former consignor I am confident that these auction professionals will standout when their overall remarketing knowledge becomes apparent to their institutional consignors and dealer customers.”
