Auction Academy Completes First Session of 2020 with Facility Tours and Instruction

All Auction Academy staff and members of the 6th Class Group have been Safe T. Sam Certified.

FRANKLIN, Tennessee – Auction Academy, a career-continuing education program developed by TPC Management Company (TPC) for professionals in the auto auction industry, announced that its current 2-year Class Group, Class 6, met together on February 27-29, 2020 for the 4th of 8 training and education sessions. Launched in May of 2019, the 6th Class Group convened in Birmingham, Alabama, where they were hosted by Tom and Cathy Adams for dinner in their home that also included an opening session headed by Chuck Redden of AutoTec.

The next morning the group toured two auction facilities — ADESA Birmingham, and America’s Birmingham Auto Auction – where auction GM’s Ed Burton (ADESA) and Russ Sapp (America’s) gave thorough tours of their facilities and sat with the class for Q&A. That afternoon, the group gathered at Auction Insurance Agency/AutoTec Group headquarters for presentations and discussions with John McElrath and Jamye Carpenter of AutoCheck Auctions, Ben Puckett & Brandon Walton of Auction Insurance Agency, Charlie Adams of AuctionACCESS, and Michael Rohdy and Mike Roy of commercial insurance carrier Arthur J. Gallagher. The following morning, classroom curriculum included presentations by Auction Edge, Liquid Motors, OVE, and AutoIMS.

“Session four included two incredibly structured days of auction tours, industry leader introductions and advanced trainings,” said Auction Academy President Penny Wanna. “Auction Academy provides an unparalleled educational experience covering a variety of aspects of the auto auction process, and our students consistently step up to the opportunities to learn from some of our industry’s most respected leaders. We particularly want to thank everyone at AutoTec, ADESA Birmingham and America’s Birmingham Auto Auction for their time and expertise shared with our Class 6 Group.”

Wanna also noted that an important benchmark was achieved during this Auction Academy Session: all students and Auction Academy staff were 100% Safe T. Sam certified or recertified. Safe T. Sam certificates and Auction Academy safety vests were presented to each member of the group by Michael Rohdy and Mike Roy of Arthur J. Gallagher.
